Altium follows industry best practices for cyber security and keeps customer data protection as a fundamental commitment.
We have achieved SOC 2 Type 2, and we can provide you with a copy of our SOC 2 Type 2 auditors report under NDA.
We conduct annual penetration testing by specialized third-party cyber security providers (see “Do you do regular penetration testing by a third-party company? Can you share a results report?), have rigorous security protocols (“Does Altium maintain an SDLC?) and have a full set of organizational security controls.

Altium 365 runs on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, storing all data in third-party (Amazon AWS) data centers.
Altium 365 Standard, Altium 365 Pro, and Altium 365 Enterprise come with a designated workspace stored in one of the data centers below (you can choose the data center's location during the workspace activation process).
There are four data centers, which are located in the following regions:
- US West (USA)
- US East (USA)
- EMEA (Frankfurt, Germany)
- APAC (Singapore)
Additionally, there is an option for a fifth region known as Altium 365 GovCloud, specifically designed for US Persons on US Soil. Please note that this option incurs an additional cost.
There are also four backup locations:
- US West (USA)
- US East (USA)
- EMEA (Paris, France)
- APAC (Hong Kong)
Altium 365 Personal Space data is stored in the US.
No, you will not design boards in the cloud. Altium 365 adds data management and collaboration capabilities to your design workflow, but it does not disrupt or change how you design PCBs in Altium CAD software (Altium Designer and CircuitMaker). You will continue to do schematic capture and board layout in Altium Designer or other Altium PCB design products. When you open a project from the cloud in Altium Designer, a local copy is created on your machine. You can work with the project offline for as long as you need and then save changes to the cloud server. You can work offline (see more details on Working Offline) for periods of time when your internet connection is not stable, for example. You do need to connect to the internet to share your work with others and collaborate.
Absolutely not! Your data and intellectual property are always yours, and you can extract them from Altium 365. When your subscription expires, you will lose the ability to author new data, but you will keep read-only access to all data already stored on the platform for three months after the subscription expiration date, during this period you will be able to extract and save it locally; this documentation article will walk you through the process. See our data retention policy for more details about how we handle your data after subscription expiration.
Altium 365 GovCloud supports industries such as defense, aerospace, and government, ensuring compliance with regulations like ITAR. Additionally, customers can now access our Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) score, enhancing their ability to assess and manage regulatory adherence.

Your Altium 365 workspace is secure and private by design. The owner and designated users with administrative rights are the only people who have full access to the data stored in the workspace. Anyone else (including Altium employees) can gain access only by explicit invitation from the workspace owner and administrators, who have granular control of what each invited member can do (view, edit, download, etc.). Access privileges can be revoked at any time.
Your organization administrators (users who manage Altium licenses in your company) will be able to see the complete list of workspaces created by all users in your organization. The organization administrators can deactivate a workspace and change the owner of the workspace.
Over 2,000 companies of all sizes already store their PCB designs and libraries on Altium 365.
